Nora Hall, only five months old, experienced a severe stroke that resulted in significant damage to her brain.
It was discovered that she was born with pulmonary hypertension, a condition that shortened her lifespan. To improve her condition, doctors decided to induce a coma for the next three weeks.
In just five months, Nora had already captured the affection of her two Basset Hound dogs, Gracie and Grumpy. Mary Hall shared with ABC News how Gracie, in particular, stepped up as a second mother figure for Nora. Whenever Nora cried, Gracie would instinctively come and investigate the situation, always staying by Nora’s side to give her kisses and make sure she was alright.
When Nora’s family was ready to say their final goodbyes, the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis kindly asked if there were any last wishes. Nora’s parents immediately replied with a strong “Yes.” They wanted to know if their two dogs could have a final moment to say goodbye to their beloved daughter.
Hall expressed his gratitude, recounting how he asked if they could keep their dogs at the hospital so they wouldn’t have to worry about their whereabouts at home. The staff lowered the bed so the dogs could sleep beside their loved one, and their dog Gracie even rushed up to give her a kiss. Mary also shared how incredibly nice and comforting the gesture was for them.
Gracie and Grumpy remain by their family’s side, providing comfort daily. Rest in peace, Nora. – Love, S.
